Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
For years, visitors to Hawaii have been bringing a taste of Hawaii home with them in the form of 100% Kona coffee. Now you can have it shipped directly to you. The unique environment of the tiny Kona Coffee Belt, only about 2 miles by 15 miles, creates the ideal growing conditions for premium quality coffee beans. Coffee trees flourish on the Kona volcanic slopes under warm morning sunshine and afternoon cloud cover. Individually hand-picking the coffee cherries at the peak of ripeness, our coffee is then sun-dried to bring out its characteristic flavor. The final step is artisan micro-roasting at the sustainable farm in small batches, helping to ensure the freshness of each and every bag of Hawaii Roasters 100% Kona coffee.

3 out of 5 stars Kona is the best, but this isn't the best Kona   September 7, 2010
Billy Hollis (Nashville, TN United States)
I've had several types of Kona, and this one doesn't rank anywhere near the top.

It's not bad, by any means. Kona is my favorite coffee by far, and I'd rather have this than grocery store beans. However, I've had Koa brand and Kona Mountain, plus Kona from Seattle Coffee purchased at CostCo, and they all beat this Hawaii Roasters. They're all about the same price too, some more and some less.

Kona tends to be subtle, but this was so subtle I'd have to call it a bit bland. Perhaps the darker roast would bring out a bit more flavor. I normally get medium roast for Kona to avoid the burnt overtones which can mask Kona flavor, but there just doesn't seem to be that much flavor here to begin with.

I noted another review that also complained about the blandness, and it's from roughly the time I bought mine. Given some of the other glowing reviews, I wonder if I just got a substandard batch.

5 out of 5 stars Great tasting coffee!   August 25, 2010

Great tasting coffee... but kind of expensive.

I'll probably order again once I run out. =)

1 out of 5 stars Kona Coffee; you've got to be joking!   August 24, 2010

I am a big sucker for coffee; especially Kona and I try to to taste every brand I get. Hawaii Roasters is absolutely the worst I have tasted so far (Just in case you are wondering my favorite is Koa Peaberry). This one doesn't have even the slightest characteristics of Kona Coffee. If you don't want to spend a small fortune on good coffee; just go with blended Kona. You will save some money over this brand yet still will get a better taste.

5 out of 5 stars Like the medium roast!   June 29, 2010
Carl (Wilkes-Barre, PA)
Tried it for the first time, has a very relaxing flavor, not too overpowering. I would definitely recommend this for kona drinkers that enjoy the flavor without being too strong. I have found a new afternoon brew.

5 out of 5 stars Out of date bag   June 28, 2010

As long as you have a best before date on the bottom of your bag (got one bad batch with no best before date), this coffee is top notch. One of the best I've ever had, and will continue to order.
